Art is a central focus at BSAK and is taught to all students across the whole school, from Early Years through to Sixth Form. It plays a vital role in encouraging creativity, imagination, and visual expression from an early age. From Year 9 onwards, students have the opportunity to choose specific pathways in Fine Art, Photography, or Graphic Design, which can be studied further at GCSE and A Level.
At all stages, students are encouraged to develop creative thinking and problem-solving skills, and to explore how they visually express themselves through experimental, analytical, and observational investigation.
Student achievement is celebrated through yearly exhibitions and external showcases, with professional-quality galleries holding exhibitions throughout the year, highlighting the exceptional creativity of our students from across all year groups.
The award-winning Secondary Art Department is home to four well-equipped studios, providing a vibrant and inspiring space for creativity. Here, students explore a wide range of techniques, blending traditional skills with contemporary practices. This energetic and forward-thinking approach results in an exciting variety of high-quality artwork and plays a key role in the strong reputation that BSAK’s Art Department holds.
International projects in collaboration with UK universities offer our students valuable opportunities to engage with degree-level students and industry professionals, receiving creative support and insight from the wider art world. External trips are an important part of our curriculum, with past destinations including Berlin and New York - providing rich cultural experiences that inspire and inform students’ work.
